Das größte und älteste tschechische Museum, das 1818 gegründet wurde. Es befindet sich in einem imposanten Neorenaissancegebäude aus den Jahren 1885 - 1890, das dem Wenzelsplatz dominiert.

  • Entrance: full 120,- CZK , discounted 50,- CZK, family 200,-CZK, school groups 30,-CZK, children up to 6 and seniors for free.
  • Permanent exhibitions: Prague in prehistoric times and Middle Ages. Prague in the time of high Middle Ages. Prague between the Middle and New Ages. Baroque Prague. Langweil's model of Prague from 1826 - 1837, a unique three dimensional representation of the city made of paper and wood covering 20 square-metres.

BERTRAMKA - MOZART-DENKMAL, DUSEK-DENKMAL

Mozartova 169, Prague 5

A manor from the second half of the 17th century, where W. A. Mozart lived during his opera Don Giovanni.

  • Opening hours: The Museum is from November 1st, 2009 closed. It isn't possible to visit the exhibition of the museum, the concert or the Café Bertramka until recalled. Other activities like rentals or weddings were stopped, too.

ALFONS MUCHA MUSEUM

  • Opening hours: daily 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Entrance: full 120,- CZK, discounted 60,- CZK.
  • Permanent exhibitions: Work of Alfons Mucha (1860 - 1939) - the most famous artist among the founders of the Art Nouveau.

FRANZ KAFKA - AUSSTELLUNG

Originelle Sachen, Schreibmaterial und andere Utensilien sind in der wunderschönen Villa Amerika zu Ehren des tschechischen Komponisten Antonin Dvorak (1841 - 1904, Slawische Lieder, Symphonie Neue Welt usw.) ausgestellt. Zu sehen ist auch sein Talar, in dem er an der Universität von Cambridge sein Doktorat im Jahr 1891 erwarb.

    Novotneho Lavka 1, Prague 1

    Museum located in a neo-renaissance building on a mini peninsula by the side of Charles Bridge dedicated to the love and works of the famous czech composer Bedrich Smetana (1824 - 1884), author of the Cycle of Symphonic Poems my Fatherland. There are original scores, family photos and newspaper reviews displayed.

    • Openings hours: daily except Tuesday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. First Thursday of the month entrance free of charge 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.

    • Long-term exhibition:Life and Work of Composer Bedrich Smetana (1824-1884)

    SPIELZEUGMUSEUM

    Jirska 4, Prague 1

    Situated in the former Count's Chambers of Prague Castle. Spread over two floors, the museum showcases old European and American toys, also incorporating part of a collection belonging to Czech emigre film-maker Ivan Steiger. Elsewhere, sections are devoted to wooden and tin toys - including all sorts of cars, aircraft, airplanes and trains - along with a huge collection of Barbie dolls (there is even a pregnant version of these).

    MUSEUM DER BRAUEREI U FLEKU

    Kremencova 11, Prague 1

    Czechs produce arguably the best lager in the world (from the Pilsen and Budweis regions). The U Fleku Museum explains the production process at small breweries around Prague. It is set amidst one of the most famous beer halls in the Czech Republic - with a history dating back to the mid-14th century.

    • Opening hours: Monday - Friday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., (reservations required).
    • Entrance:50,-CZK. The excursion on Saturday and Sunday only with consummation at a restaurant
    • Permanent exhibition:: The exhibition presents production of beer and malt not only in U Fleku Brewery, but also in a number of small Prague breweries

    WACHSFIGURENMUSEUM

    Melantrichova 5, Prague 1

    An entertaining, overpriced exhibition that includes a spectrum of Czech historical figures including Charles IV, Antonin Dvorak, Franz Kafka and Vaclav Havel as well as foreign pop and movie stars. A second wax museum in Prague (Prazske panoptikum) is located in the Palac Metro passage along Narodni Trida.

    Melantrichova Street museum, over 50 Czech and World figures of culture, sport and politics from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, who changed local and world history, can be seen, spread throughout an area covering 250 sq meters.

    DAS JÜDISCHE MUSEUM

    U stare skoly 1, Prague 1

    Exhibits documenting Prague's jewish community in historic synagogues (High, Spanish, Klaus, Maisel and Pinkas synagogues). Old Jewish Cemetery is a part of the museum and is accessible from Siroka street.
    The exhibitions of the Jewish Museum in Prague are located in six historic sites:

    • Opening hours: daily except Saturdays and Jewish religious holidays, 29 October – 24 March 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Sunday – Friday and 26 March – 27 October 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

    • Permanent exhibition: History of the Jews in Bohemia and Moravia from the beginning of colonization till the beginning of emancipation.

    • Permanent exhibition: A memorial to 77 297 victims of the Nazi holocaust. Drawings of children from Terezin concentration camp.

    SPANISH SYNAGOGUE – JEWISH MUSEUM

    • Permanent exhibition: History of Jews in Bohemia and Moravia since their emancipation until now.

    THE OLD NEW SYNAGOGUE – not a part of the Jewish Museum

    The oldest preserved synagogue in the Central Europe.

    • Opening hours: daily except Saturdays and Jewish holidays November – March Sun. - Thurs. 9.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m., Fri. 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and April – October 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday - Friday

    MUSEUM DES KOMMUNISMUS

    Na Prikope 10, Prague 1

    The museum is the only one of its kind in Prague. It presents the atmosphere of the communist era in Czechoslovakia and Prague in particular. The layout follows the origins, dreams and reality of communism as well as the nightmares of interrogation and imprisonment. Photography, video, 3D installations, sounds and displays as well as text in several world languages.

    • Opening hours: Daily 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
    • Entrance: full 180,-CZK, student 140,-CZK, group discount 140,-CZK/person (min.10 persons), children under 10 years free with paying adult
    • Permanent exhibition: ‘Dreams, Reality and Nightmare of Communism’ reminds the past political regime in Czechoslovakia.

    • Permanent Collection - The Jan and Meda Mládek Art Collectionincludes works by the great pioneer of abstract art, František Kupka, the Czech cubist sculptor, Otto Gutfreund, and contemporary works (from the 1960s onwards) by prominent Central European artists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and the former Yugoslavia.
